Consulting Services

At Sierra Bio Life, we aim to provide agriculture, hospitals, biotechnology Groups, pharmaceutical, and energy companies the insight that is necessary to facilitate the creation of novel and highly innovative technologies that can lead to a safer and healthier planet.

With the development of global trade and increased travelling worldwide, the need to prevent and control the introduction and spread of pests and diseases of plants and plant products, animals and human beings becomes more important.

Managing biosecurity of any country is a big job but promoting a shared responsibility with clients, stakeholders and the general public can play an important role in protecting countries.  However, the clients, stakeholders and general public need to adhere to their legal obligations and seek to comply with the laws of the country in relation to biosecurity.

Biosecurity as we understand is about taking steps to reduce risks caused by pests and diseases of plants, animals and human beings.

When we talk about biosecurity, we need to understand what the difference between biosafety and biosecurity is.

Following are the definitions of both these terminologies as adapted from WHO 2006.

Biosafety – Containment principles, technologies and practices that are implemented to prevent the unintentional exposure to biological material or their accidental release.

Biosecurity – The protection, control, and accountability for biological agents and toxins within facilities in order in order to prevent their loss, theft, misuse, diversion, unauthorized access, or intentional unauthorized release.

Safety in all laboratories or at the approved premises undertaking biosecurity activities is primarily the responsibility of the management however it is the responsibility of the individuals as well.

We provide consultancy services work includes:

  1. Importation process of plants, animals, microbiological material, fresh produce, nursery stock and food articles
  2. Biosecurity import conditions
  3. Applying for an import permit if required
  4. Inspection processes involved in an import so that the first time importers comply with all Australian regulations at the time of first import
  5. Provide advice on approved arrangements to perform biosecurity activities – applicable class or classes, class requirements as prescribed by the department of agriculture and the interpretation of each of the requirement, liaise with the department of agriculture on your behalf and assist in getting the premises approved
  6. Conducting a third part biosecurity audit of the premises including commercial classes and laboratories of the Universities and provide advisory finding to assist in biosecurity compliance
  7. Provide on-site training to staff handling biosecurity material

Based on your biosecurity needs our group of professional consultants can assist you in providing the best solution for your business requirements.

Bio Security

Biosecurity is emerging as one of the most important issues facing the international community, for a number of reasons: Producers’ livelihoods can be destroyed by animal and plant pests, diseases, or damage to the environment and can also adversely affect human health as is currently evident due to COVID–19 pandemic worldwide due to which major economies have been devastated and has already impacted badly globally on the socio-economic situation of many human beings.

In a broad sense, biosecurity refers to a nation’s ability to respond effectively to biological threats and related factors. This requires a nation to maintain and protect its own safety and interests. Such requirements include the prevention and control of major emerging infectious diseases of humans, pests and diseases of animal and plants entering into country, the prevention of biotechnology abuse, the protection of laboratory biosafety and the protection of special biological resources.

By having a strong legislative support such as Biosecurity Act there is an assurance that biosecurity principles will be adhered to. It is important to have professionally written Biosecurity guidelines rules and regulations based on risk which are enforceable to govern compliance.

A general policy document to govern and lay down the rules surrounding Biosecurity activities and providing tools such as biosecurity audit to identify compliance are very important components to achieve a good biosecurity outcome.  Sierra Bio Life strongly believes that education on these aspects is very important and critical to develop a work force which can successfully manage biosecurity challenges and achieve good outcomes in the future.

Predictive Preventive Personalized (PPP) Healthcare

We believe in our partner, Avesthagen’s vision that healthcare will be revolutionized by genomic and stem cell research, becoming predictive, preventive, and personalized. The goal of personalized medicine is, first of all, to use the advanced tools of molecular genetics to predict how patients will respond to drugs, reducing harm and increasing benefit. The dual combination of diagnostic and treatment technologies is at the heart of personalized medicine and will transform healthcare dramatically. We have just entered the world of molecular medicine, and the realities of regenerative medicine and preventative healthcare are within our grasp.
